The RTD800 offers the ultimate 'dirt' pedal, with a combination of overdrive, distortion and boost in one location. Players can achieve a full host of saturated guitar tones thanks to the various solid-state clipping stages with a real dual-triode tube. This versatile pedal offers more than a traditional tube overdrive, including extreme metal distortion, and boost.
The RTD800 provides a lush overdrive channel with a warm, organic tone that captures every nuance and dynamic, for a true sound. The Distortion channel delivers superb gain and character, perfect for sizzling solos, with sustain and clarity. When used at maximum distortion levels, the RTD800 maintains your guitar's dynamic response for a superb tone.
As well as an overdrive and distortion, the RTD800 also features a foot switchable Boost function that can be altered between 3-9dB via an internal trim pot. This function is particularly useful for adding impact to solos or riffs.
Maxon started out in Japan in 1965 under the name Nisshin Onpa, manufacturing guitar pickups before producing OEM products for other companies. Nisshin Onpa was responsible for designing and manufacturing many legendary pedals while working in partnership with Ibanez, including the TS-808/TS808 and TS9 tube screamers. Although many of the pedals Maxon created were released under the Ibanez name, Maxon was producing pedals under their own name, and in 2002 when the two companies parted way, Maxon began to push its name as a manufacturer of high-quality effects pedals. Today Maxon produce "hard-to-find" vintage type effects pedals, and are used by many artists such as Pearl Jam, Troy Van Leeuwen, Steve Stevens, Brad Whitford, and many more.
