Supreme tonal elegance. An expertly-chosen combination of sitka spruce and rosewood tonewoods for the construction of the Parlor AG's body provides you with a depth of sound never before seen in such a slim, small-bodied acoustic. Sharp articulation and an extensive range of tones are created by the AG's solid, sitka spruce top, while the rosewood back gives you the ability to produce deep, growling lows. Unique, hand-made construction ensures a one-of-a-kind quality that makes this parlour guitar brilliant for everything from beautiful, delicate harmonics to roaring, dynamic rhythm playing.
Embrace sensational playability. The Parlor AG boasts an incredibly easy-to-play neck and fingerboard, allowing you to completely free your creativity. Gibson's advanced response neck profile gives you the benefit of a flatter fingerboard radius to accommodate string-bending. Not only do diffcult, string-bent notes anywhere on the neck become easier to play, but your strings stay in tact for longer thanks to a supremely sleek richlite fingerboard. The painstakingly developed richlite has been tirelessly worked-on by Gibson for over 20 years, resulting in the creation of a fingerboard that benefits from magnificent resonance, as well as being stain, scratch and heat-resistant. Untether your playing with the Parlor AG.
Never restrain your sound. Many older parlour guitars became unpopular due to their lower volume levels in comparison to other instruments. The Parlor AG Rosewood has an enormous acoustic sound to rival any of its larger counterparts. It's even got you covered when you need to ramp up the volume beyond acoustic levels, thanks to its exceptional LR Baggs™ VTC pickup. The undersaddle pickup with volume and tone control is designed exclusively for the amplification of acoustic guitars, ensuring that every bit of natural acoustic tone and warmth is maintained, no matter how loud you play.
The Parlor AG's superb sound is matched only by its style. The "AG" in the guitar's name stands for Avant Garde, and the model itself certainly lives up to this reputation. A sitka spruce top is finished in rosewood burst, creating a distinctive, blended colour palette. The wood's elegance is protected by nitrocellulose lacquer to ensure durability and contributes a luxurious gloss to the guitar's body.
Not even the tiniest detail has been spared by Gibson. Original, mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays along the fretboard afford the guitar's neck a unique aesthetic. Even the tuners are gold-plated to apply the resplendent finish touches to a truly gorgeous instrument. Get a guitar that stands out from the rest.
Balanced tone and lasting durability. The AG features Gibson's hand-scalloped X-bracing across the soundboard, enhancing your overall sound by ensuring your playing is always nicely-levelled and unwavering. Furthermore, the "X" shape of the bracing gives added strength to your guitar, reinforcing the structure to make the Parlor AG tough, sturdy, and long-lasting.
Parlour guitars are characterised by their small bodies and fantastic playability. Robert Johnson used a Gibson Parlor in the 1930s to craft a distinctive, individual sound the like of which had never been heard before. The amazing versatility of the parlour guitar allowed Johnson to sound "like an orchestra all by himself", in the words of legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards.
However, parlour instruments suffered a decline in the mid-20th century because of a need for guitars to be louder to cut above other instruments in song mixes. Now, thanks to advancements in amplification, they are making a glorious return - and none is more glorious than Gibson's Parlor AG. Its divine combination of amazing tone, a massive sound, and striking appearance ensure it's streets ahead of the rest.
