Originally designed by car designer Ray Dietrich in the 1960s, who based the design on 1950's car tail-fins, the classic Firebird body shape provides the ultimate comfort as well as a renowned style icon. The Epiphone is beautifully crafted from three pieces of mahogany, making up its iconic "wings" and central core. Mahogany is a medium-dense wood with excellent resonance and superior sustain, offering a rich, round, warm tone with plenty of high-end sheen and good midrange presence. A captivating flame maple top is added to enhance the signature Firebird's already stunning aesthetic.
Custom ‘’Slash’’ Rounded Mahogany Neck
Slash’s Signature Epiphone is equipped with a smooth mahogany neck with his custom rounded profile. This design offers an incredibly comfortable playing experience, which has been optimised for fast hand manoeuvres and smooth slides. The mahogany tonewood delivers a mostly focused midrange, providing excellent presence for thick, meaty mids with an organic characteristic. Combine that with the pau ferro fingerboard and you get overtones that stack up, creating a luscious bloom for extra girth. You also get a well-balanced tone with a nice dynamic range - perfect for versatility.
