The G4M 638 Baritone VI is tuned an octave below standard guitar (E1–E3), offering a familiar six-string layout with the range of a bass. Whether you're coming from guitar or bass, this format makes it easy to drop into extended tunings without completely relearning your instrument.

The 30” scale length keeps low notes tight and responsive, even when tuning down. Paired with .014–.068 strings, it delivers the tension you need to stay punchy in the sub register. This makes it ideal for players exploring heavy, slow, or experimental styles that demand more sonic depth than a standard guitar can deliver.

Hybrid tone that cuts through

Dual ceramic humbuckers give the 638 Baritone VI a bold, modern voice that works well with distortion and low tunings. These pickups offer enough output to stay aggressive, but with enough clarity to define each note, especially important when working in the lower frequencies.

Whether you're using it to fill out a dense mix, replace or double a bassline, or push riffs into new sonic territory, the pickups offer a clean foundation without needing excessive EQ or gain shaping. A simple control layout, just volume, tone, and a 3-way switch, keeps things efficient.

Hardware that supports extreme setups

The hardware on the 638 is chosen to handle the physical demands of low tuning. The Graphtech Nubone nut improves tuning stability and sustain, having been specially cut to accomodate the larger strings on the 638 Baritone VI.

A fixed Tune-O-Matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece keeps intonation locked in, and individual saddles make setup precise across all six strings, essential when tuning outside of traditional ranges. With die-cast tuners and chrome hardware throughout, the setup is stable, serviceable, and easy to dial in for whatever tuning or gauge you want to run.

Comfortable playability across a long scale

Despite the extended scale, the G4M 638 plays fast and comfortably thanks to its satin-finished roasted maple neck and modern C-shaped profile. The flat 16” fretboard radius and extra jumbo frets make note articulation and bending feel natural, even on heavier strings, while the roasted maple is ultra comfortable under the fingers. This is a neck that feels familiar to most guitarists and is built to handle the demands of lower tunings without compromise.
