A superior build
Sitka spruce has been relied upon for years due to its wondrous tonal qualities, and so Taylor have taken full advantage of this magnificent tonewood by using it as the body top wood of the 814ce. Offering a wide dynamic range and crisp articulation, Sitka spruce ensures that every note is released from the strings with glistening definition. It is perfect for any passionate gigging and recording musician. As it ages, the sonic capabilities of Sitka spruce become more varied and enticing. Each time you play, its tone opens up - and so do the possibilities of the 814ce. Rosewood back and sides will add rich, bright qualities to your tone and has the brilliant ability to even out any harsh frequencies. The result? A gloriously balanced sound that lends itself to all fingerpicking and strumming techniques. The grand auditorium body is known for its versatility and brilliant sound projection. With full, rounded lows, pronounced mids, and sparkling highs, you have a gorgeous tonal response across the whole frequency range.
A neck and fretboard with lifelong quality
The Taylor 814ce features a marvellous tropical mahogany neck and an exquisite ebony fretboard, allowing you a dreamy playing experience that will never tire. Mahogany exudes resonance, richness, and wondrous balance thanks to an emphasis on midrange frequencies. But its robust and durable properties are what make it perfect for this scrupulously crafted neck. Thanks to long-lasting stability, you can relish such a tone for years to come. And if that isn't enough, mahogany's sonic capabilities grow more focused as the wood matures, meaning you'll have endless glistening sound. A satin finish then promises flawless playability.
The West African Crelicam ebony fretboard attached on top further enhances your playing experience thanks to its naturally high oil content which gives it a lusciously smooth finish. What makes the ebony used on Taylor guitars completely unique is the process of sustainable and socially responsible sourcing that has led to it being in your possession, made possible by Taylor's Ebony Project which takes place in Cameroon. Ebony is an extremely responsive tonewood that offers a beautifully bright sound, making it a gorgeous accompaniment to spruce, rosewood, and mahogany. Project your music with purpose and brilliant volume, ebony's snappy and crisp attack ensures that every single note cuts through the mix astonishingly well, leaving nothing unheard.
Silky-smooth playability
Going beyond standard features of the 800 series, this guitar boasts a sleek and comfortable armrest. Lose yourself in waves of glorious sound as the 814ce rests sweetly against you, like it was always meant to be there. Better still, the stunning Venetian cutaway makes this guitar even dreamier to play. Fingerpick and strum effortlessly as you are granted an exceptionally comfortable playing experience, even when reaching those upper frets.
Amplify your sound
One of the most compelling features of this guitar is the Expression System 2 that is mounted discreetly. Featuring three pickup sensors, this electronic system captures more acoustic dynamics than ever before. Combined with Taylor's 'professional audio' preamp, this guitar allows you to plug into an amp, PA system, or recording software whilst always experiencing glorious acoustic tonal properties. Sculpt your tone with three soft rotary controls and achieve a sound that is well and truly unique.
