Key Features
The SoundForce uVCF 6 Module (6HP) bases its design on an iconic vintage synth's filter section, meticulously recreating the original circuitry to stay true to the original. Providing a faithful recreation of the original filter, the uVCF is a voltage-controlled low pass filter with two modes to choose from (4 pole and 2 pole). Whilst staying true to the original design, SoundForce has incorporated modern innovations such as improvements in movement and circuitry. For instance, the frequency potentiometer has been calibrated to provide smoother and more precise control whilst in the 4-pole mode.

Based on one of the most legendary filters ever created, SoundForce has meticulously recreated the original circuitry with a few modern innovations. The original filter sections were equipped with custom ICs which aided in its unique sound and musicality. These ICs were custom-made and are now obsolete. SoundForce has chosen the powerful LM13700 dual OTA IC (from Texas Instruments) to recreate the advanced shaping capabilities of the original filter section. Whilst staying true to the original, this module version has adapted and upgraded some components to deliver the best possible performance.
You can toggle between the two modes (4 poles – 24dB/octave, 2 poles – 12dB octave) in an instant by using the onboard switch. You can use the uVCF’s FM CV input to modulate the cutoff frequency of the filter – perfect for external manipulation and advanced sound design. The uVCF is also capable of self-resonance when the RES potentiometer is set around 4 o clock (or higher). The vOCT input can also be used to close the filter (based on the pith note of your CV source). There is also a Q CV input with a dedicated attenuator, as with the FM CV input.
Whilst staying true to the original, the uVCF also features a new addition to its design in the form of LDC. An issue found in the original filter section was that when the resonance was set at a high level, the filter section would incur a signal loudness drop. To combat this, SoundForce has incorporated this parameter in the form of a switch. When activated, the LDC function avoids the usual signal drop in loudness. For this to work, you will need to lower the input signal and/or VCA level to avoid any distortion, as the LDC process requires extra headroom.
