At the heart of the PH-4 is dual ring modulators that connected to each other, over the quadrature carrier generator. The Cwejman PH-4 uses the ring mods to achieve phasing effects, unique to the PH-4. The internal LFO generates a sine or a triangle wave, which can be toggled via the two-position switch. Standard LFO modules normally only utilise the sine wave, ensuring optimal versatility when it comes to your tonal characteristics. The top of the faceplate features eight LEDs, designed to provide visual indication of rate, phase and waveform.
A unique feature of the Cjweman Phase Modulator is the ability to switch from LFO to the audio range. The oscillator generates a sine as a carrier signal for the ring mod 9A, which is then used within ring mod B with a 90-degree delay, providing the means to generate a variety of complex effects. The wide frequency range spans from 0.01Hz to 20kHz, capturing every nuance of your signal source. The frequency itself can be controlled via coarse and fine knobs, as well as C and the level of both ring modulation units.
The streamlined yet ergonomic layout features a range of outputs and inputs for connecting the PH-4 to external modules and equipment. Each phase offset setting has a dedicated output, with 4 in total. The offset outputs range upwards in 90-degree increments. It also features CV input in the form of Rate, Offset and Level connections. The left input is routed to the right as long as there isn’t anything else patched.
