Tremolo harmonicas are a different sound. They are special because they have two reeds per note, which are tuned slightly apart. As these vibrate they create the wavering tremolo effect. Folky, traditional Scottish and Irish music works well with a tremolo harmonica's cheerful sound. If you like playing tunes, this sort of harmonica will suit you, because they have more holes so you can play more notes without having to bend. Bending notes can take a while to master so tremolo harmonicas can be great for beginners. For more advanced players, they are an ideal accompanying instrument. When chords are played on these so-called two-voice harmonicas, they come out with a full, accordion-like tone which sounds great as the foundation of a performance whilst a fiddle or another instrument plays the melody.
